ขณะที่ความคืบหน้าการพัฒนาโรงไฟฟ้าก๊าซฯ 6,000 เมกะวัตต์ในเวียดนาม และ โรงไฟฟ้าพลังน้ำ ขนาด 2,500 เมกะวัตต์ ในลาว คาดว่าจะใช้เวลาหาข้อสรุปภายใน 1 ปีจากนี้ โดยในส่วนของโครงการโรงไฟฟ้าพลังน้ำในลาวจะมีทั้งสิ้น 3 โครงการ ซึ่งจะเป็นผลิตไฟฟ้าเพื่อขายกลับมายังประเทศไทย ปัจจุบันก็ยังอยู่ระหว่างการเจรจาและคาดว่าจะต้องมีการแข่งขันเรื่องค่าไฟฟ้าด้วย อย่างไรก็ตามหากไม่ได้ขายไฟฟ้ากลับมาไทยแล้วจะพัฒนาโครงการต่อไปหรือไม่นั้น ก็ต้องดูความสามารถของลูกค้าที่จะมาซื้อแทนขายกลับมายังประเทศไทยด้วยว่ามีความแข็งแกร่งเพียงพอหรือไม่
